It makes a difference how you press the frog down and release it. The way you creased the folds also makes a difference in the way Mr. Frog behaves. These are both independent variables. Now experiment with two other independent variables: The size frog you make and the material you use. What difference do they make?
The size of the frog Use the same paper you used before, but start with a smaller square than you used for the first frog. Test this smaller frog.
Does it go higher?
Does it go farther?
Does it do more turns or flips?
Again use the same paper, but start with a larger square than the first time and do the same tests.
What results do you get?
How do they compare with frogs of other sizes?
Can you make any conclusions?
The materials you use Newspaper, wax paper, construction paper, notebook paper, file folders, aluminum foil –
What difference will the material make? Before you try, make some predictions: Will it be easier to make the frog?
Will Mr. Frog go further?
Will he not even move at all?
Will the size of the square make any difference?
Now experiment to see if your predictions come true.
